The Final Question (Structure)

Structure for Long Answer Questions (16-20 marks)

P.E.E.T

Point = An idea, category or piece of terminology

Example = A specific thing (text, company, aspect of case study, statistic etc.) from real world media

Explain = Justify your point. Relate to question and command verb. Possibly given an opinion. State why the example is appropriate.

Theory = Be specific, link it to the theory. Don’t just drop the theory in, really be specific

On average, for every three marks you want a P.E.E.T.

16-18 marks = 4 X P.E.E.T

20 marks = 4-5 X P.E.E.T

CONCLUSION IS NEEDED

Remember – in a debate question, candidates are expected to demonstrate both sides in order to gain maximum marks. This doesn’t need to be balanced.
