  • Examples: surveys, focus groups, interviews, questionnaires
Secondary Research
  • Examples: includes online: case studies; online magazines and newspapers; wikipedia; articles and magazines; textbooks, online material e.g. YouTube and Ted-talks
Qualitative Research- letters/ words- opinions
Quantitative Research- numbers- statistical data e.g. adding up responses- often government data

  • Narrowcasting- a channel/ producer distributes content to a narrow/ niche audience
  • Time-shifting- to record a programme and then 'shift' it to a platform for future broadcasting
  • Simulcasting- broadcasting both traditional schedule and online
  • Web 2.0- second phase development of world wide web- staying online; collaborating- sharing info; meetings; hyperlinks
  • Horizontal integration- a media conglomerate has different companies/ subsidiaries and they work together/ in synergy e.g. a film company using the audio company to produce music for a soundtrack
  • Vertical integration- full control of all stages-production, distribution, exhibition; keeps profits
